Today I fitted a Drift HD Ghost camera to the front of my bike to record our journey and the fantastic scenery
The Camera comes with a remote control that can be attached to the handle bars or to the rider or pillion so that it can be turned off and on as and when you need it

Vignettes
We have received the Vignettes today for our travel through Austria and Switzerland
For those of you that don't know a Vignette is like road tax sometimes based on size and type of vehicle sometimes on duration of visits or both
A 10 day trip to Austria for a motorcycle is costing us Euro 4.50 with Switzerland cost Euro 34 for a full year
Maybe this is something our Government should consider for foreign vehicles using our roads especially those from Poland and other European countries who are resident in the UK but pay nothing into our road system

Countdown to our Adventure
Well its a week to go until we start on our long planned motorcycle trip across 8 of the most famous Alpine passes. Passes that have starred in many a TV programme, programmes like Top Gear and films like James Bond 007 have made these roads so famous.
We will be travelling on our BMW K1600 GTLE motorcycle and our planned journey will take us 3 weeks and cover about 3000 miles, this is one of the joys of being retired
The plan is that we travel from our home in the North West of the UK to Hull and take the ferry to Zeebrugge, from there we will travel through Belgium Germany Switzerland into Italy and criss cross back and forth across the Alps and eventually arrive in Austria for our homeward bound trip through Germany and Belgium back to the ferry.
This is not the 1st time we have been abroad on our bike but this is the 1st time we have travelled alone and booked the hotels. Although we will see some beautiful scenery and fantastic places feelings of excitement are often outweighed by feelings of trepidation, will the routes go to plan, will the hotels be habitable, will the bike be OK, will we have the right clothes for the weather which we expect to be literally from one extreme to another. We can only wait and see
