Chill out day today. We did intend to go back and re-do the Stelvio pass today but decided to have a look at the area instead.
Our first port of call was to head back towards the Stelvio to visit something that caught our eye as we drove passed the previous day. We parked the bike on a small hard standing at the side of the road and crossed over to look at the colourful display that had interested us - it turned out to be strange man's collection of things he had obviously picked up from the surrounding forest - everything from stones, antlers, bones amongst other things which he had then arranged into various displays and given names to. Got to say it was far better than some of today's modern art. We have loads of photos to upload but internet speeds are really bad so we will fill different days with photos when we get back.
After 'the museum' we headed off to another pass that we had noticed on a road sign - the Reise Pass, we followed the signs to the pass and some miles later came to a sign saying the pass had ended - we'd done it without even knowing - bit of a let down that one. Although we came across an interesting lake with a sunken church steeple.
We decided to head back to the hotel as it was getting quite warm and the hotel had an outside pool, most of the roads in that region are lined with apple plantations, they grow red and golden delicious and the small trees were bulging with gorgeous fruit.
The afternoon was spent sitting in the roasting hot sun and after our evening meal we did the opposite - enjoyed a show of thunder and lightening on our veranda with a bottle of wine.
